Show ! Ruminatin ff i Roundabout In which Ruminator proposes to dream a lot, think as little as necessary, scatter a- few bouquets bou-quets while their objectives are still above the sod to enjoy them, and fire a hot-shot now and then while said Ruminator Ruminat-or can enjoy seeing the sparks you noticed the large number of local people who are digging out or trimming old trees (while making preparations for new ones to take their places), fertilizing and renovating lawns or getting ready to plant new ones ? It sure looks good and confirms con-firms our belief that the civic-minded civic-minded awakening -which got a good start last year would continue for a. long time! Last year the south part of town, with Otto Steenbock and some of his neighbors leading the way, registered a big improvement, improve-ment, plainly visible to all who visited the neighborhood, their splendid work furnishing a fitting complement to the W. G. White residence, long THE beauty spot at the edge of ugly wasteland. Not alone in that part of town as a place of beauty nor as showing what hard work and vision can do, the White place, nevertheless, has registered high with us since first we set foot in Milford, now more than seven years ago. It 1 took plenty of vision and courage and hard work and money to make their place the little gem that "Smokey" and his good wife have created, but they have registered themselves as A-l citizens in doing do-ing so! ' With ample water supply, from the deep-down sources which are not responsive to the drouth conditions con-ditions which make home and town beautification something of a gamble gam-ble in other places, and with many other factors in our favor, "making Milford a better place in which to live" is a comparatively simple matter. In the past the determination to beautify private premises and the town as a whole has been confined to too few people, peo-ple, with the result that Milford has been noticeably "spotty", insofar in-sofar as home beautification has been concerned. We feel quite confident now, however, with a 100 civic-minded town admins-tration admins-tration to lead the way, that those days of obvious indifference are days of the past And good riddance! M |
