File? of the Milford .Newt of """" l2--5--5' fifteen, years ago. this week On Monday, August l2, 1929, at noon, Miss Maxine Bardsley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bardsley, had become the bride of Herbert Young of Berkeley, Cali-ifornta. Cali-ifornta. The ceremony had been .performed at the home of the bride by Bishop William A. Miller. The couple left the same afternoon for Berkeley, where they were to continue as graduate students in chemistry at the University of California. With L. A. Wynought actively engaged in handling Shell Oil affairs af-fairs as selling agent, the tanks, pipelines and buildings had been completed in every detail. Jack W. Padgen, of Hollywood,; and a movie actor of note had bought a ranch on South creek, i about five miles from BeaverJ where he planed to have a summer home and raise thoroughbred horses and some cattle. D. E. Kirk of Milford had handled the deal. A wire had been received in Mil-1 ford, stating that the Pacific Division Di-vision of the American Eed Cross had appropriated the sum of $250 to be used in behalf of the sufferers suffer-ers of the flood in Milford. This sum was added to over $100 contributed con-tributed by Milford people, $40 of which was given by the looil Red Cross to help out. A picnic outing had been held at the WBld Bill mine by a group of Milford young people. Those enjoying en-joying the evening were the Misses Betty and Dorothy Murdock, Dorothy and Phyllis Levi and Jetta Price, and John Williams, Charlie Faulkner, Tom Schow, Harry Smurtlvwaite and Frank Carter. Miss Audrey Raines had entertained enter-tained 14 girls and boys at Rock corral, the occasion being her birthday. The party was chaperoned chaper-oned by Mrs. Lucille Raines and Mrs. Dillihunt. The local Lions club were to hold their next meeting at Frisco: where they were to hlave lunch at the boarding house of Mrs. James and later go down into the mine. Messrs. Roy Coleman and Geo. Litchfield and their families bad left by motor for a trip through Yellowstone Natioal park. Entering the Milford business field was to be the Skaggs Safeway Safe-way store. They were to occupy the building then housing the Atkin cafe. The cafe -was to move across the street to the Lew Williams building. V |
