Show Milford Widow Has Six Sons In Service With the entry of Private Albin Holm into active service with the army air corps, Mrs. Lucy Holm, widow of the late John Holm, well known miner, has set a record for Beaver county a record which few towns in state or country has surpassed. All six of her sons and her only children now are in the services. A high type mother and good citizen who lives quietly and shuns publicity of any kind. Mrs. Holm has been a widow for many yee-irs and thus alone has had the duty, and pleasure, of rear, ing her six stalwart sons. The boys, in order of their ages, are as follows: Corporal Martin I. Holm, -28, was inducted into the army January Jan-uary 28, 1943. He received most of his training at Camp Hulen Texas. When last heard from he was somewhere on the east coast, expecting to be sent overseas. James V. Holm, F 1c U. S.N.: 27, enlisted in December, 1942. At present is in New Guinea. He received re-ceived some of his training at St. Paul, Minnesota. Sergeant Andrew N. Holm, 24 was the first son of Mrs. Holm Jo enter the service. He was inducted December 3, 1941, as a mechanic in the air corps. He received his training in Alabama, Missouri and Mississippi, and now is being sent to Laredo, Texas. He graduated fsfcm Milford high school in 1937. He was married to Ruth Cooper of Hooper, Arkansas, May 14, 1944. Private Charles F. Holm, 23, formerly engaged in defense work in California, was inducted into army service June 21, 1944 and is located at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. Ar-kansas. Private Frank I. Holm, 20, was inducted March, 1943 into the army medical corps. He received most of his training at the Harmon Har-mon general hospital at Long View, Texas, and is somewhere in in England with the 187th general hospital unit. He is an expert with the X-ray and has his certificate certifi-cate for exceptional performance in this work. Private Albin Holm, 18, a 1944 graduate of the Milford high school, signed up for the army air corps early this year and was called into active service August 3, 1944. He will be stationed at Amarillo, Texas. All of the boys -were born and raised in Milford with the exception excep-tion of Martin and James. Martin was born at Moscow, old mining location, and James at Paragonah. . V |
