Show IP.-T.A. Meeting ! Monday Evening i i ! Our present-day elementary j schools are primarily college pre-i pre-i paratory schools. Students are i given that course of study which i is considered best to fit them for ! college work, and college work is to help fit them to find and fill their eventual position in society. This system is advantageous to the student who goes on to college; col-lege; but those who do not often 'feel later that their schooling has not helpel as much as it should to face the problems of life. But no one knows just which individual in-dividual student is going to attend college and which one is not. Educators Edu-cators have long realized the necessity of a dual system of education edu-cation but until recently no practical prac-tical solution to this problem has presented itself. Wjhen the Civilian Conservation corps was organized it was considered con-sidered as a temporary relief measure to take care of young people peo-ple who, because of the depression, depres-sion, were unable to find work and were unable to go to school. Since that time the nation as a whole has more and more come to a realization of the value of these organizations to educate those young men who are unable to complete their education through the regular channels. Here they can be taught by practice the use of tools, how to get and keep a job, the responsibilities cf citizenship citizen-ship and many of the other everyday every-day problems of life. In order that we as parents may become better acquainted with the educational work undertaken by the C C C, the Milford Parent-Teachers Parent-Teachers association has made arrangements ar-rangements for J. V. Thompson, educational adviser for the local camp, to outline the educational aims of the organization and to take part in the program at the P. -T. A. meeting to be held at the high school next Monday, April 22, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. This will be the last regular meeting of the local P.-T. A. until next fall and officers will be elected elect-ed at this meeting to carry on the next season's work. All parents and the general public are invited to attend. M . |
