Show New Regulations Govern Inductions The war department has advised national headquajrters, selective service system, that all acceptable registrants will be inducted into the military forces at the time of the army physical examination, thereby eliminating the present army pre-induction procedure. National headquarters said that the war department has given assurance that in cases where the immediate induction would cause undue hardship to the registrant he will be given an immediate furlough to adjust his civilian affairs. af-fairs. Although the final physical examination ex-amination by the army will continue con-tinue to be the most thorough one given to registrants, the local boards will continue to give "screening" examinations, rejecting reject-ing the obviously physically unfit men. Under the new procedure registrants regis-trants wall have the same rights of appeal and right of personal appearance .before their local boards as they do at present. Instead of receiving the notice to report for physical .examination .examina-tion by the armed forces as they do now, the registrants will be given a notice of induction, national na-tional headquarters said. Under this new procedure registrants will have two physical physi-cal examinations, the first one known as the "screening" test to be given by the local examining physician, and the second one at a later date to to be given by the regular army examining board. .Strict compliance of all notices sent to registrants to take either of these examinations is urged as failure to comply with notices is considered a violation of selective 6ervi'oe regulations and subjects one guilty of violation to the heavy penalties imposed in the selective service law. |
