Show LOCALS Mrs. Doug Fotheringham spent Tuesday in Beaver, visitiing1 her father and sister. Dr. and Mrs. L. F. Kohler and daughter Madelyn spent Sunday in Beaver. Mrs. Deloy Carter and children have gone to Eureka for an extended ex-tended visit. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Rochek left Tuesday night for a few days visit in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Lemma Blanpied of Salt Lake is visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Willard Nichols. Mrs. M. E. Burton of Parowan is in Milford, looking after her local property interests and visiting visit-ing friends. Mr. and Mrs. Truman Bradfield of Minersville were guests at the Roy White sr. home for several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. "Scott" Tanner returned this week from southern Caifornia, where they spent the winter. John Grimshaw of Beaver returned re-turned to his home Monday after an extended period of treatment at the Milford hospital. Tonsillectomies were performed recently by Dr. R. R. Shannon for Mrs. W. S .Parkinson of Milford and Don Grimshaw of Beaver. Mrs. William Neil and small daughter arrived from Ely, Nevada, Ne-vada, to visit with her . parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Davis, and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holbrook and children of Los Angeles arrived Sunday for a weeks visit with Mrs. Holbrook's folks,- the James Thompson family. Judge E. W. Clay of Burbank was a Milford visitor Tuesday, as also was J. H. Singleton of Warm creek, who was on his way home by way of Milford after a business trip which took him to Fillmore by way of the 'Delta road. Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Shannon motored to Salt Lake Friday, the doctor returning to Milford Sunday Sun-day while Mrs. Shannon remained upstate for a longer visit with relatives and friends there and in Idaho. Eight Poppy posters, made by the high school art class, have been selected to compete in a poppy poster contest. They are now on display in the window of the Milford tailoring shop. This is one of the projects sponsored by the local American Legion Auxiliary. Nine Milford Boy Scouts under the leadership of Assistant Scoutmaster Scout-master Ed Romick made an overnight over-night camp at Rock corral Saturday Satur-day with the idea of meeting Minersville Min-ersville Scouts there but the latter failed to show up. The locaT Scouts were Raymond Easton, Joseph Mastros, Bobby Davis, Tommy Mastros, Donald Bird, Bob Clark, Stanley Hughes, Don Christensen and Bud Williams. Use of the town truck was granted for the occasion while members of the troop committee com-mittee furnished gasoline and oil. The Pierian club was entertain- I ed at the home of Mrs. L. G. Clay Tuesday evening with the following follow-ing present: Mesdames J. R. Mur-dock Mur-dock sr., I. L. Kelly, 0. C. Koch,! Vena E. Wilsyn, J. T. Johnston, D. S. Williams, Roy White sr., W. G. Bardsley, J. Lowe and Karl S. Carlton. The regular Parent-Teachers association monthly meeting will be held at the local high school Wednesday, May 22. The Milford j grade students will present the program, after which the business of the association will be discussed Election of new officers is to take place and everybody is urged to be there. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Eckman and Caleb Davidian, coming here from California, are occupying the Fouts residence at Fifth and Lewis Lew-is streets. The two gentlemen are to be associated together in a series of evangelistic lectures beginning be-ginning Sunday evening in the local lo-cal Firemen's hall, former L. D. S. chapel. A pre-school clinic will be held Wednesday morning, May 22, from 9 o'clock until 12 o'clock for all i children from the age of three to six. The clinic is being conducted j under the direction of the' Ameri"! can Legion Auxiliary and it is desired de-sired that all parents who have children within those ages take advantage of this free examination by a competent physician. Dick Nelson, manager of the Valley Creamery, who has been making his headquarters in California, Cali-fornia, has spent the past week in Beaver and Millard counties, lining lin-ing up additional butter-fat supplies sup-plies for the local establishment. He reports that the vastly improved im-proved moisture conditions this spring point to an exceptionally good year in the way of feed conditions. Mrs. Lloyd F. Kohler entertained entertain-ed her bridge club at her home Friday evening. Members present were Misses Irma Fotheringham, Gladys and Eva Coleman and Mrs. E. W. Richards, Mrs. T. W. Campbell Camp-bell and Mrs. H. V. Carlson; also present, as guests, were Miss Dbrothy Levi and Mrs. Vern Rochek. Ro-chek. High points prize was won by Irma Fotheringham and high honors by Mrs. Campbell while Miss Levi received guest prize. |
