Show - 4 Ruminatin $ Roundabout ? In which Ruminator proposes to dream a lot, think as little as necessary, scatter a few bouquets bou-quets while their objectives are still above the sod to enjoy them, and fire a hot-shot now and then while said Ruminator Ruminat-or can enjoy seeing the sparks fly. "Thirty days hath September, April, June and November; All the rest have thirty-one Until we hear from Washington!" This column, a couple of weeks ago, told of the apparently self-serving self-serving steam-roller procedure set up to govern the election of a western Beaver county director for the (s-t4b) "Assoiciated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah. To make the case complete, we think our readers should have certain further fur-ther information contained in a letter received last week from Richfield'. It will be remembered that the organization is composed of two directors from each of the 15 counties coun-ties represented, these directors being elected on alternate years for two-year terms. The western Beaver county directorate was the ono to be filled this fall and nomination nomi-nation and election procedure which had alii the earmarks of having been especially prepared to fit the local situation, was set up by the motion of the local director, as shown by the September 13, 1939 minutes of the organization. Also, it will be remembered that the western Beaver county voting was required to be completed by October 28, 1939. The letter referred to, prepared in the office of the organization under date of November 13, 1939 just five days before the annual election of officers at Fillmore, but 16 days later than the close of the Milford election bears the notation no-tation "no election" in Emery, Iron, Piute, and Washingon counties; coun-ties; and "election incomplete" in Garfield, Grand, Juab, Kane, Millard, Mil-lard, Sanpete, Sevier;, San Juan and Wayn6 counties! The Beaver county election is listed as complete com-plete with L. A. Wynaught reelected' re-elected' as director, and Carbon county appears in the same category, cate-gory, with George Leatham as the new director. This narrows it down to two counties which complied with the new election requirements and doing do-ing so within the time set for the election in Beaver county; but there's something fishy about this Carbon county "election" as well as that for western Beaver county. coun-ty. Announcement of Mr. Lea-tham's Lea-tham's "election" was not made in the daily press until last Sun-( Sun-( Continued on last page) M Ruminatm (Continued from first page) day, November 19, and the news story, under a Price dateline, told of his "appointment" rather than his election! We still maintain "IT STINKS!" It must be that Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Carlton, retired Beaver county publishers, have reached their southern California destination destina-tion and that they made the trip part way over highway 60-70 by way of Blythe, Indio and Coachel-la, Coachel-la, California! Our remarkable ( ?) powers of deduction are aided materially by receipt of copies of the Palo Verde Ver-de Valley Record, The Date Palm, and The Submarine interesting weekly papers published in those three towns. The Coachella Valley Submarine had us stumped, temporarily, as to the why and wherefor of such a name until we noted under the masthead the following significant line of type: "The Most Low Down Paper on Earth Published Every Friday Below Sea Level in Coachella Coa-chella Valley." All of the papers featured news of the two-to-one defeat of the $30-ffivery-Thursday pension proposal pro-posal recently voted on in California. Cali-fornia. T |
