Show High School Notes (Written by Betty, Jean and Eleanor ) Abe Griffiths, one of the Seniors Sen-iors of this year and one of the coming lights of Coach Kotter's track team is getting down to a fine bit of scholastic work. Abe is a young fellow with plenty of possibilities and we say, congratulations congratu-lations to this fine student. Charles Sampson, natonal youth administration director for five southern counties called at. the Milford high school Monday to line up a group of exgraduates on a clerical program, and a number of students are taking advantage of this course. The defense program, with 18 boys-enlisted, under the direction of Willard Nicholas, have gone into their second week of work. The hoys report they are enjoying their work very much. Reece Griffiths, county violinist, violin-ist, is carrying on a regular program pro-gram with the high school, orchestra orches-tra on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The class should help young aspiring musicians on the road to better j prformancen in m u s i c. These I lessons are free and every young violinist ought to take advantage 1 of this apportunity. The senior English D class is planning to enter the "Intermoun-tain "Intermoun-tain Enterprise" scrapbook contest, con-test, sponsored by the Salt Lake Tribune-Telegram. As many fine books have come from this class we feel confident that our milking milk-ing will be high. j Student body, pep club, Milford j high school band, ami Milford Lions and tlu-ir wives journeyed to Delta for the basketball game Friday evening. The Lions club had an enjoyable visit with tin-Delta tin-Delta I. ions. They also visitivl the important places of the community. com-munity. Very fine sportsmanship was shown on the part of the Milford Mil-ford and Delia students though the gamp, was a holly contested , .affair in which all men on both teams played stellar basketball. The student body also wishes to ' thank Mr. Gaines of the Union : Pacific for the splendid train ser- i vice and transportation facilities which were given them. j Incidentally, our little winsome ; ; Marie Mastros stole a march on 1 i all of us, when, during her Christ- i mas holiday visit to California, j she was happily married to Lloyd Erickson of Wisconsin. They will make their future home in Texas. We extend our congratulations to Marie although we know she will miss her school-mates. Fillmore, the leading team ip the Beaver-Millard division, will i meet the Milford Tigers Friday evening. It is to be hoped the I Tigers will furiously show their ( fangs, fighting to defeat the pos-1 sible champions. Come on, towns- I people, let's see the game! I 1 -m i |
