His handyman, handy-man, Lynne Overman, and his j anti-publicity agent, Ned Sparks j get Oakie out of jail -in time for the reading of the will, then start out for the newly-acquired school with him. On the way they meet Ji.e Penner, who is a victim of amnesia. The four join forces and proceed to the school, which proves a major disappointment because of its mid-Victorian atmosphere. Oakie Oak-ie and his cohorts begin to make things hum from the beginning. They change the seminary into a "charm school", substitute the saxophone for the zither and shorts for bloomers, and bring some lively music into the place. The transformation is remarkable but the show should be seen to enjoy en-joy the climax. Chapter 12 of "Flash Gordon", a musical short, "Parade of the Maestros" and a one reel picture "The American Red Cross to the Rescue", will be shown these nights. Between shows on Tuesday and on Wednesday will be shown the slides of the 12 children receiving the highest number of votes the preceding Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday All screen lovers who count Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper among their favorites have a rare treat coming to them when the new Paramount romantic comedy "Desire", comes to the Firmage theatre Thursday. Comedy, drama and adventure are expertly interwoven inter-woven into the texture of this exciting ex-citing and diverting film, which recounts the romantic adventures that follow a sensational jewel robbery rob-bery by a breath-taking continental continen-tal beauty. The clever way in v which Miss Dietrich purloins a costly string of pearls while the owner and a psychiatrist are going through a comedy of errors, of her contriving, cannot be divulged as it would eliminate the surprise that attends this amusing situation. Fine work is done by the supporting support-ing cast which includes John Halli-day, Halli-day, William Frawley, Ernest Cos-sart Cos-sart and Alen Mowbray. There will also be a musical short "Accent "Ac-cent on Girls" and a travel talk in color. |
