J Levering LoverIng morale mo nio- rale ralo officer at Fort D Douglas uglas the students of the class of the physical education department under the direction of Miss 1 Emma Hellman Heilman have volunteered to help in the reconstruction reconstruction reconstruction recon recon- work worl for those soldiers who have been heen left with stiff joints broken bones atrophied muscles or nervous ailments During the last summer and fall quarters Miss Heilman HeHman was an instructor at Reed college Portland Oregon in the war work of massage and remedial activities In her work in therapeutics therapeutics therapeutics thera thera- this year she has included this rehabilitating phase of the work Eight girls In the class with Miss Heilman devote three hours to work at atthe atthe atthe the fort Friday and aud Saturday mornings Last Saturday twenty patients were cared for There Is no reconstruction department department department de de- de- de at Fort Douglas and the work of Miss Heilman Hellman and her students Is entirely voluntary volun volun- tary the tary-the the recompense being the relief afforded the afflicted soldiers soldiers soldiers sol sol- sol sol- diers and their gratitude for it r |
