Show Firemen Show Is Set For Tuesday The benefit show being planned for Tuesday, December 13, in he-half he-half of the Milford Volunteer Fire department gives evidence of meeting meet-ing with such a hearty reception by the Milford public that it has been decided to stage it in the high school auditorium, where it will be sponsored by the high school in appreciation of the good work done by the fireboys in the past. The show is heing given as a means of raising funds with which to join the state firemen's association, where they may participate parti-cipate in insurance 'benefits, and was originally planned to be held i in the Legion-Masonic hall, oppo-I oppo-I site the Arion dance hall. I The Milford Volunteer Fire De-jpartment De-jpartment members are giving the Lplay "Recess and Othah Studies". , The story deals with the students I and the professor in a Negro col- lege. Professor Numbskull, play- ed hy Joe Rickerson, has his trials with the students. Junebug is played by Dern Osborn, Shinhop by Ross Patterson, Flopear by Jim Patterson, Gridleak by Dick John-! John-! son, Hiphigh by Willis Whitbeck, I Mothball by Garth Banks, Ashcan i by Ralph Thompson. In the play j they take singing, history, art, and study anatomy. The fire depart-; depart-; mpnt committee for the play is composed of Joe Rickerson, Kenneth Ken-neth Smith and Earl Eastcn. The Dramatic club of the Milford i high school is giving a 30-minute one act play. An amateur contest also will be staged in connection with the show, with Walt Martin as master of ceremonies. Some. cf the contestants registered so for are: Dick and Alma Thompson, Reo Hunt and Thelma Thompson, and Gerald Schow. Others are registering' all the time. Any one wishing to register must do so at Dick's Confectionery not later than midnight, December 10. There is no entrance fee and the contest is open to young and old alike. The Milford fire department is the only one in the southern part of Utah which dqes not belong to the Utah State Firemen's association, associa-tion, and the members of the Milford Mil-ford department are hoping that the town backs them in their show so that they too can become members. mem-bers. The association carries insurance in-surance on each of its members and is continually sending out information in-formation on new equipment and new methods of fighting fires. Each year it conducts a schrol for members where they demonstrate new methods of fire fighting. |
