Show Albert Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Smith, was a business visitor in Suit Lake City last week-end. Mrs. L. B. Waddingham left Sunday for a visit with her aunt, Mrs. May Craw, in Pioche, Nevada. Ne-vada. Miss Jewell preceded her to that place on Saturday. Delniar Kirk of Van Nuys. California left Wednesday for his home after spending the past two weeks here, where he helped in the installation of a furnace in the Atkin hotel. Mrs. J. M. Williams accompanied accom-panied Mr. and Mrs. R. WL Craven to their home in Provo last weekend, week-end, after a visit of several days in Milford by the Cravens. Mrs. Williams will visit upstate for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Acheson were in Milford Monday for a few hours. They were here to get some of their belongings before taking up their residence in San Diego. Mr. Acheson, formerly on the staff of the local A. T. &. T. relay station, has more recently been located at Needles, California Califor-nia wtih the transfer to San Diego now imminent. Mrs. Lloyd Erickson and five month old baby son arrived in Milford Monday from Gardena, California for a visit with home folks and friends. Mrs. Erickson lis the former Miss Marie Mastros. ! Mrs. "William Cochrane entertained enter-tained members of the Monday Night Bridge club and guests August 28. The prizes were received re-ceived by Mrs. David S. Wljlliams. the club prize, Mrs. J. C. Smith for high points, Mrs. Gene Kirk for high honors and Mrs. J. R. Murdock the guest prize. Others present were Mrs. M. H. Pool, Mrs. J. M. Hughes and Mrs. Shirl Feller. Several members of Sego Lily Division No. 500, G.i. !A.to B. of L. E., attended in a group the funeral of Mrs. Sarah Bohn of Minersville. Those attending were Mrs. Glen Barnes, Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Cud-dy, Mrs. J. P. Holm, Mrs, V. K. Shingleton, Mrs. O. R. Smith, Mrs. O. A. Steenbock, Mrs. J. D.Johnston, D.Johns-ton, Mrs. A. H. Connell, Mrs. C. P. Decker, Mrs. R. B. Colborn and Mrs. Lee. I -.7 Mrs. N. C. Schow and daughter Mrs. John Weston, left Monday on No. 23 for a visit with relatives and friends in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Herman Jensen, sister of Mrs. Pete Banks, here from California Cali-fornia for a visit, left Tuesday for a visit in Salt Lake City, accompanied accom-panied by her son and little nieces, Misses Penny and Linda Banks. M. H. Pool and Fred McKay, president and member, respectively, respective-ly, of the Milford town board of trustees, left Wednesday, accompanied accomp-anied by their wives, to attend the annual meeting of the Utah Municipal Muni-cipal league at Vernal. In the listing of officers and committee personnel of the local American Legion Auxiliary for the coming year, published last week by The News, a typhographi-ca! typhographi-ca! error was made and Mrs. Ethel Smith was listed as memorial chairman, instead of Mrs. Ethel Nielsen, who has been named to that position. Mrs. J. R. Murdock jr. entertained entertain-ed members of her bridge club and a special invited guest, Mrs. Karl Levi of Salt Lake City, at her home Thursday of last week. Others present were Mrs. E. L. Smith, Mi. George Moore, Mrs. David S. Williams, Mrs. J. H. Weston, Mrs. Sam .Cline and Mbs. Gene Kirk. The prizes were won by Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Cline and Mrs. Weston. Mfrs. Dick Jones entertained members of her bridge club Tues. day evening. Those present were Mrs. William Morris, Mrs. Freda Outzen, Mrs. J. S. Rickerson, Mrs. Kenneth Hollis, Mrs. Glen Barnes, Mrs. D. N. Hickman and Mrs. George Moore. The high points prize was received by Mrs. Moore, the high honors prize by Mrs. Outzen Out-zen and the traveling prize by Mrs. Morris, while Mrs. Rickerson received the consolation prize. Mr. and Mrs. James P. Holm entertained with a dinner party Saturday evening of last week, the occasion being the birthday of Mrs. Grover Cuddy. The table was beautifully lighter with candles and decorated with flowers and the honored guest received nice gifts. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Connell, Mrs. O. A. Steenbock, Steen-bock, Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. O. R. Smith, the honored guest, and Mrs. , Wulfenstein of St. George. The American Legion Auxiliary in the state of Utah alone, are going to purchase, through the saies of stamps and bonds, a hospital hos-pital service plane, at a cost of $125,000, to bring home more quickly our wounded service men. So, anyone buying stamps and bonds from September 11 to 19, who would like to help the Auxiliary Auxil-iary get their quota, buy them at the Penney store booth any day. Only bonds and stamps sold by an American Legion Auxiliary member mem-ber can be credited to this quota according to Mrs. Dora Smithson, national defense chairman in the Auxiliary setup. |
