Show I FARM NEWS NOTES BY LEW MAR PRICE County Agent SOME CORX-HOG REDUCTION PROGRAM DETAILS In accepting the government's offer of-fer under the corn-hog adjustment plan which is purely voluntary the producers agrees to: 1. Reduce the acreage planted to corn on the farm he will operate in 1!.'34 to at least 20 per cent below the average of acres planted to corn on that farm during the past two years (1932 and 1933). He may, however, retire as many acres of corn production pro-duction as he desires, but corn reduction re-duction payments shall not be made on more than 30 per cent average acreage for 1932 and 1933. 2. The producer agrees to reduce the size of his brood sow herd so that rot more than three-fourths as many litters will be farrowed in 1934 as were fan-owed on the average by his sows in 1932 and 1933. He also agrees to not increase in 1934 the number of hogs bought and fed for market, above the average number bought and fed during the 2-year base period. Example: Suppose a producer's r;ows farrowed an average of 16 litters lit-ters in 1932, and an average of 100 pigs were marketed from these litters. lit-ters. Uuder this plan he would produce pro-duce in 1934 not more than 12 litters, rnd he would agree to sell from these litters not more than 75 pigs. For makin r these adjustments he would receive the following: 1. A corn reduction payment of 33 cents per bushel on the estimated production of corn, in the past five years on the contracted acreage. The two year base period will determine de-termine the acreage to be reduced. 2. A hog-adjustment payment of S5 per head on the number of hogs nroduced for market from litter? farrowed by his sows, provided he has reduced his hog production in accordance ac-cordance with the contract. If his 1 030 pnri 1933 average production for market was 100 hogs, he would be allowed to produce 75 per cent of !, this number or 75 hogs, in 1934, and I he would receive a total hog benefit ;' payment of $375, minus expenses. 1 Futher information will be given 1 as received. |
