The King David s ha ft has now-reached now-reached the objective depth of 750 feet, where a huge station is now being cut preparatory to the beginning begin-ning of lateral work. Sinking of this triple compartment shaft wa started January 4, this year and the contract for sinking to a depth of 770 feet will have been completed in exactly six months. The shaft was sunk vertically off the vein and it will be only when cro.-s cutting is done that mineral conditions will be demonstrated. According Ac-cording to company officials one of I the main objectives of the lateral work w-ill be to explore the drum I fi.ssure which traverses the property for UiOO feet. More or less scattered I ore showings are reported in the outcrop out-crop of lias vein along the surface. This ore is a relic of what was formerly in the vein over this distance, dis-tance, it is stated-It stated-It is also planned to explore the fissures at the intersection of the Grampian limestone, considered by the company's geologists as an ideal limestone. The company is now entering the nost important stage of its development devel-opment campaign and the prospecting prospect-ing of the Drum and other major fissures from the various levels of the new shaft will be watched with interest. It is also planned to cut stations at various depths in the shaft from which laterals are scheduled sche-duled to e sent. |
