Show Desert Range C.C.C. Camp Notes By Marv Smith, Camp Correspondent District Inspector Visits Major Henry P. Blanks infantry (6th Brigade), district inspector, with Corporal Thomas as chauffeur, arrived Tuesday for the monthly in-1 spection of tho camp. Though he was not in favor of the distant lo-1 cation of the camp, he was well pleased with the standards of efficiency effi-ciency and the records made by the officers and personnel of the camp. We are looking forward to his next visit. I Camp Program Tuesday night a program was held . at camp. Special visitors were Mrs.j Walker, Mrs. Arvin, Mrs. YersinJ Captain Walker, Dr. Arvin, Mr. Hutehins, Mr. Stahman, Mr. Yersin,! Mr. Oakden and the forest foremen, j Tex Mullins' as master of cere-! monies kept the audience entertained to the limitit all times with one1 number after another. Perhaps the j highlight of the evening was the j blind-fold boxing match between the i bugler, Dan Henrie, and the baker, ' Hal Johnson. Almost everyone at! the ringside got hit more than the fighters, but it was still fun. The j battle of the behemoths occurred j when "Tarzan" Willesen and "One Punch" Joe Wilson put on the mits. ! Next followed a "grudge" fight between be-tween Jeff Pelton and "Dillinger" Dealing. The scrap was stopped when they were both so "slap-happy" they thought they were home in their mothers' arms. It seems they will never be able to settle who took the captain's knitting needles. Musical selections came from Leonard Mad-I Mad-I sen, Rex Elmer, Art Bushman, "Sailor", "Sail-or", and Charlie Jones. |
