Show FISH LA KE NATIONAL FOREST IS POPULAR AREA FOR HUNTERS In spite of the depression hunting on the Fishlake National forest, continues con-tinues to be popular with both local and out of state hunters. During the open seasons of 1932, 7634 hunters killed 3715 deer, 10 elk, and with the forest rangers and biological survey killed 514 coyotes, 122 lynx, 1766 porcupine por-cupine and 78 mountain lion. According to Forest Ranger Elbert L. Cox, the census of game animals, as compiled from the reports of the rangers, the Fishlake forest supports 468 elk, 26750 mule deer, and 7 little brown bear. This is an increase of 2 bear and a satisfactory increase of elk over the 1931 census. |
