Show NEW EQUIPMENT AT LOCAL RADIO PLANT BEING INSTALLED Operators Now Able to Converse t With Pilots of Planes . Along Route During the past few weeks much new equipment has been added at the local broadcasting station at this pointJ The (temporary code transmitter, trans-mitter, which has been in use since the opening of the station over a year ago, has been replaced with standard equipment. Probably the greatest improvement at the station is the installation of sound equpment enablng the operators operat-ors at the plant to converse in voice with the pilots of the ships along the route. By this means the pilots are kept informed as to the local weather conditions they may expect to encounter. en-counter. Heretofore, the weather from the local station was relayed to Salt Lake or Las Vegas, by code, where it was given to the pilots upon their departure. Now the pilot is kept informed of any change in weather by conversing with station operators along the route. Other equipment .including the radio ra-dio beacon, which guides the pilot on his course, is expected at any time, the equipment having been ordered shipped to Milford out of last year's appropriation. Four operators are being maintained maintain-ed at the station at the present time, but two more are expected to be added add-ed in the near future. |
