Show WORK STARTS ON U. S. GOVERNMENT BROADCASTING STATION IN MILFORD With the arrival Monday of Don F. Sutton, radio electrician from the Building and Maintenance Department of Commerce of Washing-ton, D. C., it was learned that work would start immediately immed-iately on the establishment of a radio broadcasting station by the United States government in Milford. This station has been under con-' templation for the past two years. A couple of months ago representatives from Washington were in Milford and secured a lease and option on land belonging to Chas. Beard, northwest of town, as a site for the new radio station. The first definite action on the building of the station was given out by Mr. Sutton, who was sent here to begin operations. The new station, according to Mr. Sutton, will be maintained for the purpose of disseminating weather conditions between Salt Lake and Los Angeles, Calif., to aerial pilots. The information will be broadcast twice each hour during the period of every twenty-four hours. Four men will be employed to operate the plant after completion. Present plans for the new station include a frame building, 24x32 feet with concrete basement ;two 125-foot steel towers. The lumber for the building arrived yesterday and is being be-ing stored until the foundation is in place. Steel for the two towers has been shipped from the International Deriek Equipment at Columbus, Ohio. Work on building will be let by contract. con-tract. It is understood that the building and equipment will be installed and ready for operation within three months. |
