Show VARIETY OF CASES COME BEFORE COURT . Judge Cox Imposes Severe Penalty on Milford Woman. District Court in Beaver County :losed Wednesday after ten days of ictive court work. A large number jf cases were heard and disposed of luring this term. Chief among these being the Casterline vs. Mathews :ase, an account of which was given n our last and in wiiich a verdict was rendered in favor of Mrs. Mathews. Ray Kelson and Leland Beard, two Milford youths, plead guilty before be-fore Judge Cox to the charge of burglary, burg-lary, and were sentenced to not leso than six months or more than three years in the state prison. The court suspended the sentence for two years, :he boys to report regularly to the !ourt at each session during the" two years. The trial of Mattie Ferguson, of Milford, held on the charge of possession posses-sion of liquor, was tried before a jury Tuesday. This proved a stubborn case for the jury to agree upon, and they remained in session all nignt, rendering a verdict of guilty the following fol-lowing morning. Judge Cox passed a sentence upon the defendant of sixty six-ty days in the county. jail and u fine of $299.00. Ten days stay of execution execu-tion of the sentence was given for the attorneys of the defendant to perfect an appeal. W. A. Johnson of Salt Lake City, who was suing Sheriff J. T. Leigh and his deputy Edward Benley, of Iron County, for false imprisonment, received a verdict in the case and was awarded damages in the sum of $600. The case of C. T. Martin vs. Baker Edwards, for property settlement, I was dismissed after an agreement had been reached between the attorneys attor-neys of the plaintiff and defendant. John W. Spendlove, of Hurricane, suing Mrs. Richard R. Pearce, for property damage of $S2.50, to his automobile which was struck by a car driven by Miss Zelma Pearce, was given a judgment for the bill and costs. .'Two divorces were granted during this term of court. Mabel Griffiths Bartlett was granted a decree from Frank James Bartlett, and Idena Wilson was granted a decree from J. E. Wilson. The latter couple are residents re-sidents of Milford. Beaver Press.
