Show Steamers Among Clouds The Pacific Steam Navigation company's com-pany's motor ship La Paz recently left Liverpool for South America. In her hold was packed a complete steamship, capable of carrying 100 passengers and heavy cargo. At Mol-lendo, Mol-lendo, in Peru, all these thousands of plates, rivets, funnels, boilers, engines, en-gines, fittings, and furniture were to be repacked into trains and carried 220 miles to Puna, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, 12,500 feet above the sea, where the ship was to be assembled assem-bled for entering the lake service. This is the eighth steamer to be sent to Puno in this way ; the first was sent iu 1SG1. |
