Show ! CHECKING STATIONS TO BE MAINTAINED DURING DEER SEASON R. L. Turpin, in charge of big game for the State Fish and Game Department, and Orange Olsen of the Forest Service, spent a day at Beaver arranging for the deer hunt this coming season, checking stations will be operated this year the same as last. All hunters going to the Beaver Ranger District will register in and out, thus making it possible to collect reliable data not only as to the number num-ber of hunters, the bucks killed, etc., but also information relative to the cost of hunting, when the money is spent, and what economic value the deer herd has. Cattle, sheep, and deer utilize our mountain forage and all our valuable resources to country. Livestock and game have a place in our economic set up and both require perpetuation and support. The purpose of the checking stations sta-tions is to obtain data which will assist as-sist in figuring out proper balance between be-tween livestock and game in the use of mountain ranges. With the livestock live-stock and game resources properly balanced, neither need fear for the security of the other as both game and livestock interests will be amply provided for. |
