Show WHERE DOES THE j EDITOR GET OFF? j With the official announcement of; the start of Che circulation campaign ! put on by The Milford News, the ' manae-ement wishes to dispn' .'iny illusions il-lusions that might be prevailing anent( the purpose of the campaign. i The drive for subscribers is made primarily to increase the usefulness of this paper as an advertising medium. We want it to be of more benefit to merchants and other business men who want to buy space in its columns. A second reason, and close behind the first in importance, is that it is believed that the News will be a newsier paper with a much greater circulation. The best news gathering staff in the world will miss a little news unless the paper has a large and loyal following; who will contribute contri-bute to the reporter or to the newspaper news-paper office such news items that thev may happen to know of. This last reason, together with the other, indicates clearly that the News j is not motivated entirely by charity I in giving away an automobile and other prizes. Our satisfaction will lie in being; the better able to serve our readers and advertisers. I |
