Show 1 o : BAND GIVES CONCERT AT BEAVER ENROUTE TO LIONS CONVENTION Although delayed by the breaking of a "conrod" in one of the large buses carrying the famous Wasatch County Band of Heber City, the ag-regation ag-regation of ninety musicians and attendants at-tendants arrived in Beaver about four o'clock Saturday afternoon. The trip to the International convention of Lions clubs at Los Angeles, is being be-ing sponsored by the Lions of District Dis-trict No. 28, comprising of Utah and part of Idaho, and Beaver was fortunate for-tunate in being designated as one of the stops for the band on their trip enroute to the convention. Tired and hungry after the delay caused by bus trouble, the apetizing meal sponsored by the local Lions club and prepared by the ladies of the Relief Societies, was heartily e.i-joyed e.i-joyed and the members of the organization or-ganization were enthusiastic over the hospitality accorded them in Beaver. Tho several hours late on their schedule, a parade was made after their lunch and a most delightful concert given in the city park, which included specialty numbers as well as band renditions. Uniformed in black and white, trinmed with yellow, the band made a most pleasing appearance in their line of march. There are ninety menlbers, about one-third of which are young ladies, all members of the Wasatch county high school. The concei-t sustained the reputation reputa-tion held by this youthful musical group, and was thoroughly enjoyed by a large crowd gathered at the park. The band is Utah state champions cham-pions for class B, and having won several such contests are disqualified from competition for two years. They also placed fourth in the western division di-vision of high school bands held in Denver two years ago. They will enter en-ter in competition with numerous bands at the International Lions convention con-vention in Los Angeies on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The band was accompanied by Storm McDonald, business manager and member of the faculty; Principal W. J. Bond, head of the Wasatch county high; Supt. of schools, R. F. Neilsen; Aaron W. Tray, president of Weber College, Ogden; Delmer Dickinson, leader of the band for the pas,t eight years; T. D. Smith and John A. Fortie, members of the board of education; Mrs. Sadie Ther-man, Ther-man, school nurse; Ruth Zuppann, of the Ogden Standard, publicity agent for the trip. The young people v. ere chaperoned by Frank Epperson, Mrs. J. L. Liml-sey, Liml-sey, Mrs. Hyrum Christensen and Mrs. W. A. Wherritt. After the concert the band and party left for Cedar City, where they gave a concert and were entertained j in the homes of memhers of the j Lions club over niglit. The d'sabled j bus was left at the Bowman garage ; for repairs that night, and through ( the courtesy of Lions Mayor Geo. C. Murdock and Lions Piesident H. D. !
