Show SOUTH MILFORD Mrs. Ivan McKnight has been quite seriously ill with influenza. Mrs. B. J. Hughes and daughter, Mrs. White of Salt Lake have been visiting Mrs. Arthur Williams during the past week. I Our young people are enjoying corn roasts these cool evenings. Undrrhill of Delta spent Monday! with the Carl Elmer and W. C. Cates families. Miss Marie Gildea and mother were the- house guests of Mrs. Walter Walt-er Weber on Saturday and Sunday. They are enroute to their home in Ohio after a summer spent in Losj Angeles. The Social Hour club met . lastj Thursday afternoon at the club house I with Mrs. Parley Fisher and Mrs. Ivan McKnight as hostesses. Posters and other decorations for the Flower show :were made during the afternoon. after-noon. Mrs. J. G. Weber was appointed ap-pointed to consult the school board regarding transportation for the first grade children from the Flat. The following rules were given out for Flower show entries: 1st single flower; flow-er; 2nd boquet of one variety; 3rd boquet of mixed varieties; 4th most artistically arranged boquet in your ' own container; 5th potted plants; 6th wild flowers. The hostesses served delicious ice cream and little cakes. Mrs. Vance Fisher and Miss Shirley Blackburn assisting in serving. Mes-dames Mes-dames Hughs and White of Salt Lake were guests of the club. Rehearsals are being held for the entertainment on the evening of the Flower show. On this date the families fam-ilies of Social Hour club members are guests. Miss Roberts of Salt Lake has been visiting Mr3. Harold Sautter for the past week. MINERSVILLE Miss Theone Gillins of Milford was in town Monday. Miss Carolyn Eyre lias returned to I her home at Parowan after spending pome time here. Miss Peggy Blackburn of Milford was calling on relatives here Monday. Dave Homer of Logan spent the past week here with his sister, Mrs. Oliver Graff, he was accompanied back by Mrs. Graff ai:d children who will spend two weeks at Logan with relatives. Mrs. Hazel Eyre of Adamsville was in town Wednesday of last week. Pets Pickett has returned to his home at Long Beach, Calif., after spending some time here with relatives. rela-tives. Mrs. Lorin Goff has as guests her sister, Mrs. F. W. Schilling and children of Carlin, Nevada. Miss Eve Croft of Ogden, is here with her brother Ben.iiman Croft and family. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. A. chaperoned by the Misses Effie Wood and Elva Hall are spending a few days at the girls home in the Beaver canyon. Sunday afternoon the baseball team of Caliente, Nevada played ball here the score being 6-11, in favor of the visiting team. A number of the officers and teachers of Sunday school attended the Sunday school convention at Milford Mil-ford Sunday afternoon. ADAMSVILLE Wilford Larsen, wife and family have moved back to Aberdare after spending five months in Salt Lake. De Et Malngren of Spanish Fork is here visiting at the home of Miss Nelda Littlefield. Jasper Walker, Huck Pulcfher of Beaver 'were in Adamsville Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Limb and baby motored to Teasdale Wednesday Wednes-day with Billie Limb of Arizona. Miss Helen Johnson and Blaine Larrabee both of Salt Lake City are I here for a few days visit. It was quite a sight for the people here last week when an airplane flew so low that the pilot and plane could be seen very plainly. In some cases the plane was no over thirty-five feet above the tops of some of the houses. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Allgood and three small sons of Ios Angeles, are here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Gunn. Jasper Puffer and wife attended the funeral at Beaver Saturday for Miss Bernice Puffer. I Revou Eyre spent a few days in the Beaver mountains with friends of Minersville last week. Mrs. Alfred Heslington and little son of Salt Lake City and her mother moth-er Nell M. BEAVER Ross Patterson of South Milford, who is working at Manderfield, was in town Saturday night and callei on his grandmother, Mrs. Martha Williams. Mrs. Miles White and children returned re-turned to their home in Delta after a months visit at t'ae home of Mr. and Mrs. Burl Ashworth. Mrs. Myrtle Ashworth returned home Friday night after a visit of a week at Cedar City. She was accompanied ac-companied home by. her brother Mar-oni Mar-oni Smith who is working on the state highway 91. Ross Ashworth of Cedar City visiting at the home of his father, Oliver Ashworth this week. Mr. and Mrs. James Mastros, sons Joseph, Wallace and Thomas and daughter Norma Helen of Blackrock were Sunday visitors at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Collis Thompson. Thomp-son. Joseph Johnson of Salt Lake City was in Beaver on business Saturday. Miss Marie Mastros returned to her home at Blackrock Sunday after a week's visit with her sister, Mrs. Collis Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Harland Goodwin and son Dale spent Sunday at Minersville. Min-ersville. Mrs. Bernice Stewart and two sons of Milford, visited her mother, Mrs. Karl Levi at the home of Burl Ashworth. Ash-worth. Dr. and Mrs. Bybee of Milford were in town on business Tuesday. Mrs. Gilbert Hutchings and two children who have been spending the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Paice returned to her home in Las Vegas. Mr3. Clifford Paice who has been spending a few months the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Paice returned to Salt Lake. Bemeice Puffer, 14, daughter of Percy and Josie Hoopes Puffer of North Creek, died Wednesday at 5 p. m. at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Hoopes of Beaver. She had been seriously ill from heart trouble for several weeks and was moved early in the week from her North Creek ranch home into Beaver. Besides her parents, she is survived surviv-ed by one brother and three sisters: Mrs. Rhoda Shotwell, Boyd, Reva . and Marie Puffer of North Creak. Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. j Ephraim Puffer and Mrs. Martha A. Hoopes of Beaver also survive. Funeral Fun-eral services were held Saturday. Arden Hutchings, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hutchings, narrowly escaped being struck by a speeding automobile Saturday at 8 p. m. as he was driving six head of horses to his father's field on the No. 91 highway north of Beaver. As the boy was making the turn, one mile north of town, the driver of a car attempted to slow down and in his effort to stop plunged the machine into one of the horses. The horse was thrown on top of the car and severely cut and bruised. The car, bearing a Wyoming Wyom-ing license, was badly wrecked with a broken windshield .motometer, bent fenders and radiator. Beaver valley farmers are already harvesting their grain crops. The grain crop in general has been cut earlier than usual, due to the infestations infesta-tions of inspect pests in some fields, and due to lack of water for irrigation, irriga-tion, especially on the bench lands. Many of the farmers are hauling the grain and stacking it near their barnyards barn-yards to be threshed. Threshing m' chines will Jbe threshing the grain here within the next two weeks. GREENVILLE Mrs. Delmar Kesler and children from Milford are spending a few days with Mrs. Kesler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. 0. A.vBlackner. Walter Blackner and sons Byron and Mourice of Adamsville were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 0. A. Blackner Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Blackett made a trip to North Creek Tuesday. Mrs. Dan K. Barton who has been at North Creek with her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Thomas for the past five days returned home Tuesday. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Atkin of Ruth, Nev., will be glad to know of the arrival of a baby girl at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Walbeck and children Ralph and Gladys left Thursday for Pintura where they will get fruit. Mrs. W. S. Bolton left Thursday for Cedar where she will join her husband who is working there. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Blackett left Thursday for Yellow Stone Park where they will spend two weeks. Mrs. George L. Bolton and son By-rone By-rone left Thursday for Blackfoot, Ida., where they will visit wijh friends and relatives. Dorothy Calvert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Calvert who has been in Milford for the past three days returned re-turned home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lewis and daughter daugh-ter Betty Gene and Mr. and Mrs. Shorty Allred of Ruth are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Atkin. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Thompson and children Paul and Zelma were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan D. Frost Saturday. ! Mart, Joe, and Hogarth Barton, Ormand Morris, Heber Murdock and Howard Walbeck spent Sunday at Radium Warm Springs. 1 John Miller of Salt Lake visited with friends and relatives here Tues-,day Tues-,day night. Milton Gentry of Beaver was in town Saturday. Luella and Loretta Baker, Josephine, Jose-phine, Audrey, Shirley and Alice Thomas of North Creek called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morris Monday. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Thomas of North Creek are the proud parents of a baby boy and baby girl born August Aug-ust 21st at the home of Mrs. Thomas sister, Mrs. Frank Morris. Mother and babies are doing nicely. |
