| Show A UNIFORM 1 SYSTEM IN METHOD ASSESSING PROPERTY With a view to establishing a uniform uniform uni uni- form orm system in the method of assessing assessing assess assess- ing property throughout the state for tor taxation purposes the state board of equalization yesterday decided to hold bold district conventions beginning Novem November er 25 It is the purpose purpose at these district conventions to meet county commissioners assessors and auditors Under the tile law the state board Is IB empowered to make its own rules ruIN respecting methods of assessment but heretofore this has bas not been done Now the tho board is formulating Its rules and these will be promulgating and explained at the district conven conven- When thus formulated and distributed these rules under the state statute become the assessment law to counties and their commissioners commis- commis and assessors This process Is Intended to avoid such as the one which occurred occurred ed this year In Carbon county over oyer overvaluations valuations placed upon coal lands The rules are intended to govern all counties In making assessments for 1918 and will Include a provision with reference to coal lands in the state |
