Show LARGE QUARTERLY CONFERENCE HELD MeetiLg House Jammed Apostle Ballard Tells People to Stick With Farms, Pay Taxes and Win Out. Small Acreage, and Much Live Stock, and Home Spirit. A very fine L. D. S. Quarterly Conference Con-ference was held at Delta' last Sunday, Sun-day, with messages delivered to the people of lasting benefits. Pres. Hinckley spoke of Millard County, its resources, and what it would eventually come to when developed, provided the people had faith in the future. Apostle Ballard spoke very convincingly. con-vincingly. His message was varied, and covered a broad field. It was especially pointed in reference to temporal salvation, locally. He told the people not to move off, not to listen lis-ten to the blandishments of other localities, lo-calities, but to stick right here on on their own farms, stay with them, make farms of them, and not only farms, but "homes". Ho admonished the people not to speculate, not to gamble on the market, but to sell their produce when harvested, clean up their debts, and forget if the very last red cent was extracted from the market as the price for it. While much benefits can be got from a proper pro-per cooperative helping method, to sell uniformly, yet he condemned a pooling method based on speculative ends, and operated in similar manner. man-ner. Preston Nibley spoke of conditions locally and elsewhere, compared place for place. The poople were urged to give up big acreage ideas, and get down tQ forties and eigthies at most, cows chickens, pigs, varied crops, and on this changed basis to work out their own and this region's salvation. The meeting house was filled to overflowing. Standing room only. |
