Take two heaping measures of love and mix togethc thoroughly in a common purpose; sweeten with two full hearts sprinkle in a few little ones according to taste; for a rich rud color, break in the yolks t)f two purses, but do not make too ricl for it will surely break in crumbs and separate too easily; do n season with fragrance of cloves. Stir the batter thoroughly until it is even all the wa through. It should be stiff enough to withstand the slaps of pov erty, and dents made by sorrow should slowly close. Place before a genial hearth to rise; bake in a moderate ovei of even warmth, avoiding excess of heat. Do not use icing o frosting. Best not served with cold shoulder. Serve in the home on all occasions. (The quantities given are sufficient for one household. |
