For thrift means getting the most for your money by invest in;; it in tilings for which there is a present use or future profit, rutting a padlock on the pocket is not thrift. That's stinginess. It one can buy a lot worth ?3i-'i for $200, it is thrift to buy it. If a suit of clothes which will be nettled next fall can be bought now for $20 when it will cost $30 when next fall arrives, then it will be thrift to buy it.. Thrift is taking advantage of opportunities op-portunities in which there is profit. It means keeping your dollars dol-lars everlastingly on the job. Thrift also means refraining from useless expenditures that keep the poeketbook so thin that in-vestmets in-vestmets cannot be taken advantage of when they are offered. Things should be bought from the standpoint of. use and profit, and if there is no present use and no profit in sight, don't buy. : No matter what your definition of thrift may be, when it is carefully studied and analyzed and boiled down, it simply means getting ready for a big opportunity, and hoping it will come. And geling ready for the big opportunity is just another definition of laying away for a rainy day. Don't hide or dissa-pate dissa-pate your savings. Invest them. There are so many fine opportunities oppor-tunities open right now, and right around here, that no man, who cares about the future, can afford to neglect them or close his eyes to them. |
