Show J. i VANHLE DIES Word was received here of the unexpected un-expected death of Judge J. M. Van Winkle, well known resident o Delta, who died at" his winter home in San Diego. Mr. Van Winkle has owned own-ed a farm here on the South Tract a good many years, and left here only last week for California, where he expected to spend the winter with Mrr Van Winkle. His death will be greatly felt by, the community, as he was a man of sterling worth, a fine citizen, and of the highest integrity. We regret to record his death, though being at the advanced age of elgthy-four, such could have been expected. He was always active, apparently in the best of health, and certainly one of whom but few judged his span of yearB.. The news of his death came as a distinct dis-tinct shock. Mr. Van Winkle etood for upright dealings, and his life left the impress of what men respect In others. He was a man of wealth, which he carried with small eoneern. He is survived by his widow, his daughter, Mrs. S. B. Bennett of the South Tract, and a son, Paul, who had charge of his oil properties in Texas and Oklohoma. Sympathy Is extended to the family. |
