Show THE DELTA-HOLDEN ROAD The Governor signed the contract with the County Commissioners of Millard County tor the completion of sections B and C of the Delta-Holden road, to be finished at once just as soon as work can be resumed. And section A will have to be built no getting away from it. Millard rooters worked hard on this. Commissioners Warnick and and Roberts with Hon. Steele and Paxton served as a steering committee, commit-tee, and trotted forth and back, hindered hin-dered here, delayed there, upset yonder, yon-der, thwarted by this official, blocked by that, and dammed with faint support sup-port almost everywhere; but the word "surrender" was moritorium-lzed moritorium-lzed so they wrung victory out of defeat. SIDE LIGHTS Ex-Gov. Bamberger had pests of like sort; when one of them would call, and be especially persistent (as our boys this trip had to be), Simon would turn to his steno and say, "Dere is anuuder von; put him on de S B list, too." Oscar Warnick wore out eleven pair of thick soles trotting back and forth, doing this trifle and that as official after official lammed another brick before the wheels. Hon. Steele spent 114 hours, two boxes of candy and seven theater tickets tic-kets dictating and redlctating contracts. con-tracts. She was a very attractive young lady. At no time was the danger ever absent ab-sent but sumdammfool could have thrown a monkey wrench into the works and stopped the whole dinged performance. "Why, Mr. Steele, may I ask," aid Governor Mabey, "are you content con-tent with Sections B and C, and make no mention of A?" "Because, Governor, to be perfectly perfect-ly frank with you," repliod King Commish, "if B and C are built, you'll HAVE TO BUILD "A." "I admire your frankness," mused the Governor. It's in the budget; now if no agency agen-cy administers nux vomica, it will stay there; but for the luvvamike, keep off nauseating topics the financial fi-nancial situation is delicate on its stomach even yet. |
