Show ells will attend summer school at the LT. of U. Mr. Huffaker will also be in Salt Lake the larger lar-ger part of his time probably. Miss Eyring will be in Arizona, and Mr. Bailey is going to school in Chicago during the summer. All of the faculty except Miss Cook and Miss Eyring will be back. Miss Garda Gee will succeed suc-ceed Miss Cook and we will have Mr. Floyd Eyre who has been a star athelete at the B. Y. U. this year as our athletic coach. We will also have another teacher teach-er in music, which will make one more teacher than we have had previous years. Next year will be the greatest year that the Millard Academy has ever known. We have high ideals, good teachers, a good building, well equipped department, depart-ment, a live student body and everything to help the student obtain intellectual, moral, relig-eous relig-eous and social education. Such an education will make him a good companion of himself and of his God, and will fit him to fill a worthy place as a citizen of our educated nation, and give him ideals high enough to help her carry out her great destiny of peace among the nation. Our slogan for this year is "Two Hundred Students". Will you make one of them? their wtrk in an enthusiastic-way enthusiastic-way that meant school spirit. There was no skyrocket enthusiasm, en-thusiasm, however, and interest and attendance continued to increase in-crease throughout the year, till at the end attendance was very nearly as large as during the preceeding year. During the year the wards of the two stakes have raised the main part of the indebtedness of the institution and the expenses of the school this year, as nearly as can be old, have kept nicely within the allotment. Three new courses were given this year; elocution, General Science and Physical Culture. Two literary societies, the Al-bus Al-bus and the Marrone Societies have been organized. They have been very successful and hope to make next year an interesting in-teresting one in this line. The Academy took part very successfully this year in inter-school inter-school activities. Contests in basket ball, debating and track and field sports were engaged in. In none of these activities did we lose. Final results were either a victory or a tie. The Student Body had maintained main-tained a good working decipline in the school throughout the year, and incidentally have done much in the way of developing themselves into responsible citizens citi-zens of our country. During the year the heating plant has been remodejled, a porcelain drinking fountain has been presented to the school by the Senior class, a fine double tennis court has been built, and the trimmings of the gymnasium and the halls have been painted white. The Domestic Science department was presented with a large double range by the Parent's Par-ent's classes of the stake. The school was also presented with two large full length mirrors by the retiring Mutual officers of the stake. All departments have had equipment added and the library has been enlarged. - The Natural Science department depart-ment has started a museum that is to represent the plants, minerals, min-erals, insects and fossils of the county. Anyone who has anything any-thing of interest along these lines is urged to place it in display dis-play at the Academy. It will be placed behind glass doors and locks and will be well taken care of. A collection of this kind will be one of the best ways of advertising the country and showing our resources to visitors that come to our school. This department, has. also added this year a projection lantern, a compound com-pound microscope, a static electrical elec-trical machine, a hand dynamo, telescope, a mineral and rock collection and various other equipment. We believe we have our Science department equipped as well as any school near our size in the state. One of the most interesting-events interesting-events of the school year was the canyon hike on May 11th 12th and I3th. About seventy five students, all of the faculty and a large number of parents, friends and prospective students from all over the county left early on the morrow of commencement com-mencement day for Oak Creek canyon. Prof. Smart, nature study man of the B. Y. U., was taken aboard enroute and he proved a very instructive and entertaining companion. Conditions Con-ditions were ideal in the canyon, and three long-tQcbe remembered remember-ed days of hikes over the hills, evening campfires and nature study and lectures were joyously spent. Everybody is so enthusiastic enthusi-astic over the hike that we are going to make big preparations next year, procure good lecturers, lectur-ers, have everybody there and make it the Millard Academy Annual An-nual Chatauqua. Principal McClellan is going to stay in Millard county this summer and make friends of his enemies. He is also going to do some work on a thesis for his master's degree. Miss Cook will be at home in Rexburg, Ida-: Ida-: ho- Miss Marsdeh and Mr. How- Review of the Year at the Millard Academy The students and patrons of of the Millard Academy seem to be practically unanimous in placing plac-ing the year 1915-16 as one ol the most successful in the his tory of the institution and many-would many-would give it first place. .The year's work was begun with handicaps that were most discouraging. Probably the most serious of these was the resignation resig-nation at the end of the preceeding preceed-ing year of the principal and en-l en-l tire faculty except for one mem- - ber. It was very possible that the new faculty would not be nearly so efficient as the old, and it was certain that they would know practically nothing about the circumstances of the S'.-hool. They were not acquainted acquaint-ed with the students, knew very little about the school work of years before, and were not familiar fam-iliar with the apparatus, furni-tjre, furni-tjre, school records and many other details regarding the school. During the preeeed-i.-ig year the school had overrun it's allotment and incurred some additional indebtedness. Probably Prob-ably as a result of these conditions, condi-tions, attendance at the beginn-ning beginn-ning of the school year was small. Not long after the school started, however the people began be-gan to realize that there was a spirit in the school that meant success. Principal McClellan had gained the confidence and loyality of the students. The faculty was efficient and seemed to have a sincere interest in the wellfare of the students.
