ACADEMY NOTES. All Academy students connected with the music department owe the Board of Education a vote of thanks for the new gas-light fixture which were put Into the music room during the holidays. It ha been greatly needed for some time and is now highly high-ly appreciated by Mrs. Hroaddu Bnd the pupils, who take their lesson after aft-er 5 o'clock, as well as by those who attend the lecture recital and the nnndolln and guitar clubs. The Hoard of Education. In their generous effort lo make music of more value to the students, have assumed as-sumed the expense of the class work In musical culture. They may feel well repaid for their Interest and effort ef-fort when they learn that about 4.'. student have seized the opportunity to get musical training without tuition, tui-tion, and Khve joined the Musical Cul ture classes. Mrs. Broaddus does not j offer any "snap" courses, and she thinks that a few students will probably prob-ably drop out when they find that the course requires hard work, but there will still be plenty of earnest miihlc lovers left. Three of the young men of the Academy have already started upon a course of private lesson In voice culture, cul-ture, and six girls and two boys have begun their private lessons on the piano. Friday evening a reception was given giv-en in Iieaeret in honor of Gerald Bennett, Ben-nett, a recently-returned missionary. William Jenson Alpin and Angus Allred have been gone four or five days, getting wood and ot from the Eat mountain. Mrs. Agnes McCleod, who ha been visiting for several week with her, parents, Mr. and Mr. William V. j UUck, has returned to her home. j At the meeting of the West Side Telephone Co., held at Ieseret, the old jfflcera were re-elected.
