Show England's Motto. "Dleu et Mon Droit" "God and My Right" the royal motto of England, waa the parole of the day given by Richard I. (he of the Lion Heart) to his army at the battle of Glsors, In France, on the 2Uth of September, 119S, when the French army waa signal sig-nal defeated. Dleu et Mon Droit appears to have been first assumed aa a motto by Henry VI., 1422-1462. Semper Sem-per Idem "Always the Same" waa one of tbe mottoes of Queen Elixa- beth; also adopted by Queena Mary and Anne. |
