Two Democratc Congressmen Chosen, Entire State Ticket Elected, and Both Houses of State Legislature Legisla-ture Will be Democratic. Salt Lake City. The Democrats were victors in the battle of the ballots bal-lots in this slate on November 7, and the electoral vote of the slate goes to J'residciu Wilson. Judge William II. King defeated Senator Sutherland, while Simon Bamberger Bam-berger was elected governor. Milton H. Welling and James II. Mays, Democrats, will represent Utah In congress. The Democratic state ticket has been elected and both houses of the next legislature will be Democratic. In Salt Lake and Weber counties the Democrats elected their county and legislative tickets. He is regarded as one of Utah's most successful business busi-ness men, having engaged in mining, railroad building and other pursuits. He was one of the pioneers in mining in Park City, Bingham and Big Cottonwood Cot-tonwood canyon. He was the builder of the electric line from Salt Lake City to Ogden, known as the Bamberger Bam-berger line. Mr. Bamberger has served four years as a state senator from Salt Lake county and two terms as a member of the Salt Lake school board. county in the state, not only for state officers, but also for their local officers. offi-cers. Simon Bamberger, the governor-elect, governor-elect, has the distinction of being the first Democratic governor of Utah. He 'is a prominent Salt Lake capitalist and for many years has been one of Utah's foremost citizens. Judge William II. King, who succeeds suc-ceeds Senator Sutherland, is one of Utah's most brilliant attorneys. He is already a national figure and will undoubtedly be one of the Democratic leaders in the United States senate. James H. Welling, who succeeds to the seat made vacant on the retirement retire-ment of Joseph Howell from the house, is a brilliant young Democrat of Box Elder county. He represented 3)is county iwice in the lower house of the state legislature, and in 1913 was the Democratic nominee for speaker. Probably never at any election in Utah were there so many "scratched" ballots cast. In Salt Lake county there was an enormous amount of scratching and complete returns were not received from any district in the county until after 2 o'clock Wednesday Wednes-day morning. Despite mud and inclement weather conditions generally, the voters of Salt Lake, actuated by an intense interest in-terest in a most spirited" campaign, went to the polls Tuesday and cast one of the heaviest votes ever cast In Salt Lake City.
