Show TWO MORE REGIMENTS SENT TO THE BORDER Talk of Intervention In Mexico Again1 Revived, Friends of President Declaring De-claring Such Step la Possible. Beverly, Mass. The president on Saturday authorized General I'onard Wood, chief of staff, IT, 8. A., to dispatch dis-patch two more regiments of cavalry to the Texas border. The regiments will bo sent from Fort Hlley, Kane., and Fort D. A. Russell, Wyoming. So far aa the president was Informed, thero will be no Immediate need for more troops In Texas, but conditions along that border have grown worse In the last few weeks. Although President Taft will not in-tervene in-tervene In Mexico without the fullest deliberation on a step that would mean war. his friends declared Saturday Satur-day that Intervention Is nearer than It has been since the first American troops were rushed to the border eighteen eigh-teen months ago. It tun be stated on the highest authority, au-thority, however, that, should the president decide that Intervention is the only course oen to him, he will call congress In special session and demand of it the authority to send the American army across tho border. In no circumstances, ho has told his friends, would he do an unfriendly act against .Mexico without consulting congress. I |
