The United States will continue to try by the recognized methods of diplomatic usage to obtain relief from the injuries her shipping interests are now sintering by reason of Great Britain's disregard of international inter-national law. It will not adopt retaliatory measures meas-ures to compel Great Britain to grant this relief. This is the attitude of the state department de-partment as obtained authoritatively on Monday. It correctly expresses the course of procedure to be followed in the interchange of notes regarding Great Britain's blockade of Germany and of neutral countries. The note on contraband now in oourse of preparation by the state department de-partment will not go forward to Great Britain, it is understood, until the Lusitania incident has been closed.
