Show COTTON PROFITS IN EGYPT Growers Realize Better Price In Aggregate Ag-gregate for Their Crop Than Do American Producers. Notwithstanding antiquated methods and small knowledge of the value of seed and other by-products, Egyptian cotton growers realize a better price in the aggregate for their crop than do American producers. This is partly because of cheap labor and partly because be-cause the lack of rain during the harvesting har-vesting season makes the field loss very light. If nmdprn methods of cultivation of the land were employed the profit would be even greater. As it is, cot ton worth 18 to 20 cents on the market Is there produced at a cost of a little more than 12 cents per pound. To produce the best f:rade In this country costs from 10 to 12 cents, while it brings only 11 to 13 cents And It must be remembered that Egypt must pay for Irrigation at that. |
