Show COTTON PROFITS IN EGYPT Growers Realize Better Price In Aggregate Ag-gregate for Their Crop Than Do American Producers. Notwithstanding antiquated methods and small knowledge of the value of seed and other by-products, Egyptian cotton growers realize a better price In the aggregate for their crop than do American producers. This is partly because of cheap labor and partly because be-cause the lack of rain during the harvesting har-vesting season makes the field loss very light. If modern methods of cultivation of the land were employed the profit would be even greater. As it is, cotton cot-ton worth 18 to 20 cents on the market is there produced at a cost of a little more than 12 cents per pound. To produce the best f:rade In this country costs from 10 to 12 cents, while it brings only 11 to 13 cents And it must be remembered that Egypt must pay for irrig-ition at that. |
