At the meeting of the county commissioners com-missioners last week the board passed pass-ed a resolution granting the consolidation consoli-dation of the achoola of the county into one district. Commissioner Maxfleld and Anderson votc-d for it and Commissioner Hushneli voted . agalnat It. It ha been a long, hard fight, but the majority has at last won. The talk of State Superintendent Superintend-ent Nelson and Attorney Mat Thomas Thom-as had much to do In deciding the question. There ha never been any argument against consolidation ot the merits of the question. No one baa attempted to deny that the 1 ncnools will be more efficiently and economically managed, and that there will be greater uniformity in the length of the term, grade of teach-1 era and salaries paid. The only opposition oppo-sition haa come from 'one or two districts dis-tricts which fe,ir that their taxes will be slightly lucreased. Rather than pay a few dollars more taxes they are willing to let poorer districts In the county have poor schools and short terms. We understand that the opponents op-ponents of consolidation are going to try and knock It out on some legal technicality. The majority of the vot- |
