Colonel Rooms-velt Rooms-velt made tho trip from the hospital In Chicago to his home without unusual un-usual Incident, standing the trip even better than was expected. The stricken Progressive leader reached Sagamore Hill at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning, after a run from New York In a sixe!al train, composed of his private car and one filled with members of his party. The colonel's townspeople in Oyster Day had arranged for a warm home coming for him, but Dr. Lambert, along with Drs. Make and llrewer, surgeons who were called In to see the ex-president on the train, decided that the excitement might be too much for him. So at the last moment the cars were run out to Syorsett, five miles from Oyster Hay, and from there the colonel was conveyed In au automobile to Sagamore Hill. The ex president, thoroughly tired from the 1,000-mile Jaunt, climbed rather unsteadily from the car and walked to tho automobile. The doctors have Issued orders that the ex president devote himself tc solid rest, and It Is hoped he may be able to speak In New York on tbe 30th. |
