Show i A New Nelv Library The need for new v library facilities at Utah is becoming increasingly evident t to a an any n student who finds it necessary to spend any great amount of his time on the second floor o of the Park building Whenever a room is crowded there is bound bounty to be confusion confusion confusion con con- I fusion and noise noise This is the situation which can be seen daily in inn our own library large numbers of students crowd crowded crowde d dat at the reading tables and moving moving- through the room make quiet an impossibility even though the students have the best of intentions in maintaining silence e. e As a result anyone desirous desirous desirous de de- sirous of studying finds it difficult if not impossible to give to his work the needed concentration I Nor is this the only y bad part about the situation n. n At most large universities the students or at least the upperclassmen have free access to the bookshelves for research and study Duc to the crowded q d conditions I of our own shelves such a course cannot cannot be permitted and matters which require research research re- re search and reference to many mIny volumes is rendered doubly difficult difficult difficult dif dif- for the Utah student A Although h present financial conditions conditions' make it difficult for I expansion and improvement it is hoped that the coming session ses ses- 51 sion sili n of the legislature will give due consideration to our problem problem lem Lein and aid us in amending this overcrowded situation |
