Nathan Roundy for the Bronze Medal said, "For heroic achievement achieve-ment while serving with a Marine Mar-ine infantry battalion during 'the action against enemy forces in Saipan, Sai-pan, Marianas, from June 15 to July Ju-ly 8, 1944. On July 8, the platoon of which Sgt. Roundy was guide, had the mission of assisting a regimental regiment-al weapons company in clearing out a, group of enemy defending themselves in caves. Soon after the arrval of his platoon, the command ing officer of the company was seriously ser-iously wounded and was unable to make his way to a position of safety. safe-ty. Under intense enemy rifle fire, Sgt. Roundy moved forward to the wounded officer's position and dragged him to safety on a poncho. pon-cho. Sgt.
