Show Country Club Entertained Last Monday evening Mrs. Quinn Shepherd was hostess to the Country Coun-try club. Dinner was served at the Banque Hotel and cards played later at Mrs. Shepherd's apartment. apart-ment. Members present were Fern Mortensen, Dorothy Steele, Lois Hinckley, Lois Maxfield, Dora Mun-ster, Mun-ster, Ann Hales, Mary Tippetts, Eleanor Roberts, June Bassett, Beulah Beu-lah Bassett and Genevieve Hessick. Mary Tippetts and Lois Hinckley won prizes. three won in the first meet and now are planning to win at this meeting. It would be something if they did, because they are all from the same school and won hands down before. It would put a big feather in the high school's cap, and also one in Louise Adams' as she is their coach and instructor. instruc-tor. We will all sit around with our fingers crossed hoping that they get over this hurdle and go right on to the top. We have had quite a lot of breeze lately, in fact so much that Oasis has been blown 37 miles north of Delta, and I believe all in one piece. Milford moved north in large hunks and hasn't been concentrated con-centrated in one piece yet. It is causing no end of consternation to the Union Pacific, as it has caused them to completely revise their time tables. It's that same old story of now you see it, now you don't. I guess Bob Stephenson is right, it is certainly quiet -here. Nobody is doing anything, but I guess it will pick up. I bragged too soon last week about what the Red Cross was doing, do-ing, and they have made me out a liar again. Every time they poke a bunch of donations in a flour sack, somebody comes along and gives some more. It is getting beyond be-yond a joke now that they have oversubscribed their quota by 36 per cent, to still have donations rolling in. Now the Japanese residents resi-dents of Topaz make the statement state-ment that they plan on raising $3000. If they do it goes on West Millard's quota and will make i1 something terrific. Well, I must close now and get busy on my Victory garden. Love, Toots. |
