A few Conostogas reached Utah in early pioneer days, along with prairie schooners and other covered cover-ed wagons. The Conostoga, however, how-ever, was the Cadillac of all wagons-' a regular plutocrat of the plains. In general appearance, it was a covered wagon with a long tight bed. Its builders intended it to be floated across rivers like a boat, and unlike other wagons its running gears were fastened to the bed. The man who piloted one of these vehicles truly owned a "sup-erduper "sup-erduper of the plains." Anyone familiar with the whereabouts where-abouts of a Conostoga wagon should contact the Utah Department Depart-ment of Publicity and Industrial Development.
