Show Bombing Range Threatens West Millard Economy By direction of the Secretary of War, a public hearing will be held by the undersigned in West high school auditorium, 241 North 2nd west Street, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, 21 August, Aug-ust, 1946, for the purpose of affording af-fording all interested persons an opportunity to present and discuss their views, desires and recommendations recommen-dations concerning the propohed expansion of the Wendover Bombing Bomb-ing range in Utah. The War Department proposes to acquire the use of approximately approximate-ly 3,000,000 acres of land in western west-ern Utah for use by the Government. Govern-ment. Ti nffected areas are identifed as follows: A tract of land containing approximately ap-proximately 3,044,000 acres situated situat-ed in Juab and Millard counties, Utah, being approximately 55 miles wide and 100 miles long having approximate ap-proximate boundaries as follows: The westerly boundary is a line 12 miles east of the Nevada-Utah state line. The easterly boundary is a line 67 miles east of the Nevada-Utah Nevada-Utah state line, said line being approximately ap-proximately 4 miles west of the town of Cleak Creek. The southerly souther-ly boundary is the Millard-Beaver county line. The northerly boundary bound-ary is the existing southerly boundary boun-dary of the Wendover bombing range and Dugway proving ground. A tract of land containing approximately appro-ximately 44,192 acres, consisting of Township 5 South, Range 18 West; and Township 5 South, R. 19 West, Salt Lake Base and Meridian. Mer-idian. All interested parties are invited to be present, or to be represented at the above time and place. State and Federal Government officials and persons representing grazing and mining interests in the affected affect-ed areas are particularly invited to attend. Oral statements will be heard but for accuracy of record, all important im-portant facts and arguments should be submitted in writing, in quadruplicate, at the hearing or mailed beforehand to the Division Engineer, South Pacific Division, at the following address: War Department, De-partment, Office of the Division Engineer, South Pacific Division, San Francisco 19, California. |
