Show Stake M I A Holds Convention At Delta Wednesday Heeding the call. "Let's Go to Mutual," nearly three hundred ward and stake officers and teachers teach-ers together with the Stake Presidency Pres-idency and ward bishoprics attended attend-ed the Stake Mutual convention held in the Delta First Ward Chapel Chap-el Wednesday evening. Every ward in the stake was represented rep-resented and many wards with a one hundred percent attendance. Interest in attendance and complete com-plete organization was keen as the stake offered a prize of a full set of MIA reading course books to the ward being in attendance 100 percent. Winners will be announced in the various wards Sunday. All Mutual presidents, Miss Ruth Hansen of Delta Second Ward; Mrs Mary Noble of Delta First Ward, Mrs. Irene Sampson of Delta Third ward, Mrs. Charley Smith of Lynn-dyl, Lynn-dyl, Mrs. Eva Dutson of Leamington, Leaming-ton, Mrs. Maxine B. Finlinson of Hinckley, Mrs. Eva Roper of Oak City, Mrs. William Overson of Sug-arville, Sug-arville, Mrs. Ivan Sorenson of Sutherland, Suth-erland, Mrs. Florence Williams of Oasis and Mrs. Hulda Dewsnup of Deseret were there with a full line up of workers ready for the opening social next Tuesday evening. eve-ning. Y. M. presidents were all there with full line ups. They were Royal Terry, Lynndyl; Cluff Talbot Hinckley; Mark Anderson, Oak City. Fenton Gardner, Delta First; Albert Payne, Delta Second; Bert Hales, Deseret; Ren Christensen, Delta Third; Amnion Johnson, of Sutherland; Roy Losee, Sugarville; John M. Nielson, Leamington: and J. Val Styler, Oasis. A demonstration was given by Orvetta Nickle, Helen Baker, LaRue Nickle and Bernice Finlinson, Stake Board members: Rulon Doman, the Scout Executive of Provo, talked representing the general board. Musical numbers were given by Stake Music Director Ladd Cropper. After the main assembly, department depart-ment meetings were held. Then the workers re-asembled and held a short social. Refreshments were served. A few changes have been made in the MIA this year. The half hour programs have been modified and will consist of announcements, 2 minutes; song 5 minutes, prayer 2 minutes; scripture reading 2 minutes; min-utes; music 4 minutes; appreciation apprecia-tion comment on music 1 minute; speech 4 minutes. Five consecutive weeks will be spent in teaching each of the cultural arts, dancing, drama, speech and music by the directors. The trading of programs will be encouraged this year. Four major entertainements will be held in the various wards this year, on October 3 a Halloween or Harvest Ball, on December 19, a Christmas party; on Fedruary 13 a Valentine party or patriotic program, pro-gram, and in May the Festival to include dancing drama, music and speech. Standards in recreation will be stressed by the wards. Standard in cultural arts, athletic standards, personal standards as well as : standards in dress will be stressed. This year recreational program ol the MIA seeks especially to contri- ' bule to the spiritual development of each individual and help to un- I derstanri that the recreation and ; rebuilding of the human personality personal-ity should go forward harmonious- ' ly as a part of the glorious gospel plan.
