Also for the many kindnesses extended to the family. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon D. Anderson and Family. 40 YEARS AGO ... From the Files ... . (In looking through the old files the issue of Dec. 1, 1910, is the first News From Snake Valley, The Far West Side of the County Is Heard From, K. E. Christopher-son- , Chronicle representative. 40 years ago each issue is just one day later than they are in 1950. It is also interesting to .note that the veather 40 years ago was much like it is this wek.) ' Snake Valley We are having beautiful weather and the sheepmen are still look-ing longingly for snow. Several teams from Burbank are loading seed at Baker, besides the teams there which will load for the haul to Newhouse from where the seed will be shipped. Over nine ' hundred bushels of fine seed were harvested on the Baker ranch this year. March 17, 1841, and XvaS the son of Reuben W. Allred and Lucy Ann Butler Allred. He was one of those who saw the prophet Joseph Smith and brother Hyrum as they lay in their coffins, and took pleasure in testifying that he knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He moved with his fathers family to Utah and was in San Pete county during the Black Hawk-War-, taking an active part in the settlers from the de-predations of the Indians. He was almost continuously in the saddle from the first outbreak until its close, and had many dangerous ex-periences. Utah and her people will ever owe a debt of gratitude for what Thomas B. Allred and his companions in arms have done for the early protection and sub-sequent development of Utah. Hinckley The basketball game between the Hinckley and Burtner iteams was well attended and the visitors carried of the laurels by a score of 12 to 1. The local team showed ex-cellent spirit and with diligence and careful practice they will make us play ball. The line-u- p was as follows: Hinckley Eurlner Jno. Wright LG Dav. Taylor Art Reeve C Claud Billings Jno. Greener LP Gus Billings Clarence Bishop RT Avery Bishop. Marv Moody RF Clyde Maxfield Referee - Austin Whitehead . Elder Berry Robison has just re-turned from a 26 months mission in the northwestern states and is looking well after his labors. We are glad to welcome Joseph E. Spendlove home from a two year mission in Great Britain. He reports having'enjoyed his labors very much. He was speaker at the Sunday meeting and gave a good report of his work on the other side of the Ocean. He is looking well and feeling the same. All of the schools in the valley have now started. The Big Wash school, the last to start, has now been running a week with Mrs. Garrison as teacher. Graham Quale is wielding the rod at Garrison this year. Miss Lola Heckethorn presides at Burbank, and should wield a hickory. Miss Cook is tea-- ! ching the Baker school, the only teacher not a resident of the valley Miss Lillie Heckethorn is leaving this week to conduct the school at Callao, . Another of your young people, B. G. Clay, is successfully conduct-ing the school at Hamilton, Nev. Miss Zella Richarson and Fred Loper were married at Osceola, Nev., last week. They will be at home at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Richardson. Deseret We are much grieved to have to report the passing away of one of our most respected citizens, one df Utah's pioneers, Thomas B. All-re- d. For a week he had been con-fined to his home, but on Friday i consented to be taken to the LDS hospital at Salt Lake, where he passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27. T. B.
