Show Itest Wishes Go To Roy lresser, Now 89 Years Old Sunday, November 28, will be the 89th birthday for Roy Dresser, a resident of Delta for the past 36 years. Mr. Dresser was born in Be-loit, Be-loit, Wisconsin in 1859. His father was killed in the Civil War, and his mother returned to Canada, the land of her birth. Within the year 1897, his wife and two children died. The next year, 1898, Mr. Dresser went to the Klondike, among the 40000 persons per-sons in the gold rush. He stayed there five years. His brother, Norman Dresser, started the Chronicle in Delta, on July 4,1910. He wrote to Roy about the new country, and to come here and settle, which Roy did in 1912. He cleared land for the newly begun be-gun project, and also sold horses. His home has been here since. Although his years are many, Mr. Dresser is still active, despite some arthritis, which he helps by using crutches. He does his own chores, ,and drives his ciar in good weather, and with the aid of new glasses is now able to read again. Earlier this year he had an operation opera-tion on his eyes, and for some time papers and other matter were read to him. Mr. Dresser has always al-ways been a great lover of good music, and still plays the piano whenever he has an opportunity. Always cheerful and kindly, he has a wide circle of friends who join in wishing him a happy birthday. birth-day. And he is particularly appreciative appre-ciative of his neighbors and their many kindnesses to him. |
