Show Republicans Give Rousing Velcome lo J. Bracken Lee Enthusiastic Republicans of Mill-. Mill-. . ara county applauded the statements state-ments of J. Bracken Lee, Repub-ican Repub-ican candidate for governor, at the meeting held Saturday night in the Delta high school. Speaking before more Republicans than have been gathered under one roof in some years, Mr. Lee spoke on his aims and views in this years' campaign cam-paign He dealt at length with 3 i pertinent subjects, state highways, the welfare program, and the liqu- ior program. Eldon A. Eliason, chairman of Millard county Republicans, had charge of the meeting. At the I speakers' table were also Archer ' ' Clayton, Republican candidate for : state treasurer, Ernest E. Greenwood, Green-wood, Republican candidate for t state superintendent of public in-I in-I struction, and local candidates, Le I Roy B. Smith, state representative, ) Ben Robison, 2-year commissioner, f Milton Warner, 4-year commission-: commission-: er. Also there were Mrs. Lee, wife ' of the gubernatorial candidate, Jos. ; 1 T. Finlinson, Mayor Golden H. IBlack and Emil Pearson. Mr. Eliason opened the meeting, welcoming the audience. Mrs. Louie ! Black sang a solo, "I Have a Rendezvous Ren-dezvous with Life." Then the candidates can-didates were introduced, and made brief talks. Preceding Mr. Lee's ' talk, Mrs. Lee was called on and spoke of the pleasure of meeting and making friends while campaigning. cam-paigning. Mayor Black, who has 1 known Mr. Lee over a period of years through their work in the I Municipal League, spoke in his behalf, be-half, and his reputation for ability to get things done. The introduction introduc-tion speech was made by Mr. Finlinson, Fin-linson, and the time turned over to Mr. Lee. In his opening remarks Mr. Lee said he was sure of two things, he was not so good as 'his friends made out, neither was he as bad as his opponents said. He then went on to topics important to voter vo-ter and taxpayers. On the welfare 'program he stated that he felt it should be established whether old people i were on relief or a pension, and )kept that way, out of politics. Not to subject the old people to worry every political campaign as to their status. Following his talk, open house was held, and Mr. and Mrs, Lee met everyone.
