After dinner the young couples played Rook. ' Mr. and Mrs. Een Robison and children returned to Logan Sun-day, after a visit over the holidays at the home of their mother, Mrs. Zona Hawley, in Oasis. Don Beck, old-tim- e Deltan, Grove over from Baker, Nevada, this week, for his first trip in many months in this direction. Grant Christensen left Delta Sunday for Salt Lake City, to enter the mission home, preparatory to his departure for the Spanish-America- n mission field, as a mis-sionary from the Delta Third Ward. He will return at the end of the I week for a few days at the home ' of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lor-enzo Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen had all their family, six sons and two daughters, home over Saturday and Sunday, to visit with Grant before he leaves. The daugh-ters are Mrs. Martha Roundy, from Alton, Utah, and Mrs. Ida Alvy, from Sigurd, and the sons all lie in Delta. Miss Louise McMurdie returned last week to her home in Logan, after a visit in Delta during the holidays with her sister, Mrs. Wm. Bassett, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Underhill ) were Salt Lake visitors during the holidays, with their daughter, Mrs. Gail Baywater, and family. Moyle Dorius, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Doruis, is now working on his masters Degree in Business management at the U. of U. Moyle received his B. A. Degree last spring, x Terry Lee Chose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Wilkins, has re-turned to San Francisco, after spending Christmas and the holi-days in Delta. It was her first visit at home in six years, from San Francisco, where she is employed at the Federal Land Bank of Berk-eley. She made the trip both ways by plane, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Willden, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd D; Johnson accompanied her as far as Salt Lake City to the airport on her return trip. They drove straight home, a four-ho-trip, and arrived in Delta just in time to take the phone call from Mrs. Chose, saying she too was safely home. i Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Workman have a new grandson, the baby boy born to Willard and Beth At-ki- n, in Logan, Dec. 28. Mr. and Mrs. Atkin have made their home in Logan since September, where he attends the A. C., after a sum-mer spent in Delta Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sampson, from Sandy, were visitors in Delta last week, with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Sampson. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Day, and their mother, Mrs. Emma Day, of Oasis, went to Salt Lake City Sun-day, where their mother will re-main for ten days, for medical treatments. Mrs. Day is staying with her, and Mr. Day has returned to Delta. Returns From Efc&usns City Trip Mrs. Martha Dutson returned to Delta Monday from Kansas City, where she attended a con-vention of the Luzier company, held Dec. 29, 30 and 31. 500 persons at-tended 'the convention, represent-ing all states of the union, with 4 attending from Utah. Mrs. Dutson was awarded the trip, with all ex-penses paid, for her record of the most sales in Utah. Each of the three days at the convention was filled with interest and entertainment for all, Mrs. Dutson said, including the trip thru the Luzier plant, where they saw the process used in the manufac-ture of their cosmetics. Entertain At Hook Party A party' of twelve were enter-tained Saturday night at a Rook party at "the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Steele. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Callister, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Soren-so- n and Mr. and Mrs. Van Bishop. The prize for the high score went to Mr. and Mrs. Allen, while Mr. and Mrs. Bishop held low scores. Luncheon was served at the end of the evening. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Heyborne, and Nola and Neil, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Heyborne, of Provo, have re-turned from a week's trip in Cal-ifornia, where they were among the thousands at the Rose Bowl game on New Year's Day. Entertains At Dinner and Cards Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Maxfield en-tertained on Sunday night at din-ner at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. E. Janus Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon So'enson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy. Smith, Mr. :nd Mrs. Clayton Stapley, Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Beckwith, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil- Bak-er and Mr. and Mrs. Golden H. Black. Later in the evening cards were played, at which high score awards went to Mrs. Stapley at the bridge tables, and Eldon Soren-so- n at the Rook tables. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Davis have returned to Salt Lake City, after spending the holidays in Delta with Mrs. Davis' parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. Harold Black. ' . Scoaat Facts ... He is a junior in the school " of Pharmacy. f Family Party For Birthday Mr. and Mrs. Nels Black celebrat-ed Dec. 29, Mrs. Black's birthday, with a family party at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Black, Mr. and Mrs. Golden Black, Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Black, Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Black, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Black, Miss Barbara Marsh-all, Miss Nelda Howard, Byron Dav-is, and Bob and Paul Black. Tables of Rook were arranged, at which Miss Howard held high score for the evening's play, and Golden held low. score. Birthday re-freshments were served. An enjoyable New Year's even-ing visit was had at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Petty by the following guests. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greathouse, Lynndyl; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dew-snu- Deseret; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stanworth, Delta. Dinner was ser-ved with the New Year. Prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stanworth and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greathouse. A lovely holiday social was giv-en by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Great-hous- e, as their daughter, Mrs. Col-leen Levy, from South Dakota, was spending the holidays in Lynndyl with her parents. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Petty, Delta; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard McCann, Leamington; Mr. and Mrs. Levy and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greathouse. The home was beautifully decor-ated and a lovely dinner was serv-ed. First prize was won by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Petty, while low was won by Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Mc- Cann. John Evan Dorius, Vets Village, Denver, Colorado, wrote to us this week, with best wishes for the New Year, and to say how he enjoyed reading news of his Delta friends in the paper sent him by his father, L. S. Dorius, of Salt Lake City. It has been seven years since Evan left Delta, when he enlisted in the army. He has been taking treat-ments at the veterans hospital in Denver, and-- after a holiday visit with his wife and family, is return-ing to the hospital later in January. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reid, and Mrs. Reid's father, Wm. Bassett, return-ed Sunday from an trip spent travelling in California and Nevada. They covered over 2,000 miles, and visited Tia Juana, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, and points in between. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Henrie are spending the winter months in war-mer climes, as they did last, year. They and their son, Fondd Henrie, left Delta Saturday, for California, with their trailer house, and will travel and stop-ove- r, as they please. Mr. and Mrs. Varlo Henrie, who also have their trailer house, and their two daughters, are mak-ing the trip with them. After Cal-ifornia, the family plans to visit some weeks in Arizona. Miss Barbara Marshall, of Pang-uitc-and Miss Nelda Howard, of Malad, Idaho, were guests during the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nels C. Black. Bob Black took Miss Howard to her home last week, after which he returned to the B. Y. U., and Miss Marshall and Paul Black left Sunday to return to the B. Y. U. Entertains At New Year ISInncr Mr. and Mrs. E. Eugene Gardner entertained at dinner New Year's night for Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jones and family, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Stoddard, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Har-ris and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl L. Harris and family, of Oak City; Miss Lulu Lovell and Mrs. Louisa J. Lovell, of Oak City and Mrs. Nell L. Barlow, of Brigham. After dinner, games were play-ed. Later in the evening everyone enjoyed the wide range of colored photos of Grant and Ted Harris'. Gene Harris sang a number of songs, accompanied by Muriel Gardner. Their son, William H. Gardner, writes home from Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, that he would be rather homesick at Xmas time if it were not for the intense heat of summer down there. He wishes all his friends could enjoy the delicious water melons that grow abundantly tfiere. Mrs. Rachel Page, and three children, from Salt Lake City, vis-ited in Delta over the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert n. Mrs. Page and Mrs. Soren-so- n are cousins. McKay Davis has returned to Cal-ifornia, where he is employed as a mechanic for United Airlines, after a visit in Delta with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Davis. Mrs. Hyrum Iverson, from Kan-os- h, and Mrs. Hattie Goodwin, of Beaver, are visiting in Delta this week with their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Iverson. Mr. Iverson is a patient at the Delta hospital, recovering from an oper-ation on Monday. Mr. and Mrs, Ray Steele enter-tained at dinner on New eYar's .day at their home, with guests being Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Jensen, and Miss Marian DeLapp, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jensen and daughter, Mrs. Mina Steele, David and Doreen Moody, and Don Pratt.
